Brad Powers on Health Care Reform and Fynanz

May 17th, 2010

There has been recent concern that the student loan Bill which was passed with the health care reform Bill recently will not have any impact on private student loan providers, such as Fynanz, on which Brad Powers sits on the board.  This statement was actually made by Chirag Chaman, who is the current COO of Fynanz.  According to Chaman, if anything, this Bill will actually be beneficial to the students, which is one of Fynanz’s main goals.  As well, if the students benefit then the credit union will also benefit which ultimately will help everyone involved.

Brad Powers and Fynanz

Fynanz is a superb program for students who feel a lot of pressure when it comes to financing.  Anyone who is involved in this program can take pride in what it provides for students.  Brad Powers is definitely one who enjoys this organization, and thus uses his time to support it. Ultimately what this is going to mean is that private banks will no longer be taking fees. It will cut out this middle man as it were and there will be an expansion of the direct lending program from the government.  As well, this will save taxpayers $61 billion in the next decade and will use this to increase Pell grants for students.

Many students are nervous about the student loan bill that recently passed in the House with the health care reform bill.  Fynanz, a New York, N.Y. based provider of custom private student loans, says that students needn’t worry.  As COO of Fynanz, Chirag Chaman, explains, “The bill overall doesn’t affect private student lending, and even if it does, it helps the borrower, so it is a positive for the industry.”

Fynanz, where Brad Powers is on the Board, recently created a new alliance with CUNA Strategic Services to help credit unions in the private student loan market.  He explains as well that “Need-based aid for students is important.  The funds hadn’t been growing the past few years and [the increases] were needed.”

Social Marketing & Advertising According to Brad Powers

March 25th, 2010

In an article that Brad Powers wrote in 2008 called, “Leveraging Social Networking Sites: Online Lead Generation” he evaluates how powerful advertising really is on social networking sites.

He states that two out of every three Internet users visits a social networking site each day, and that they find that these online visitors really do pay attention to the advertisements that they see. Such users are inherently good at multi-tasking.

As Brad Powers explains, “Marketers have found that social network users not only see the ads, but interact with them. Members of this group are, after all, the ultimate multi-taskers. Which is why lead generation firms have found some of the new inventory available through social networking sites to be high converting inventory.”
